#22 Audio Books (or "The end is near")

In anticipation of your new MP3 player, it’s time to take a look around Overdrive downloadable eAudiobooks.

Discovery Exercise:

For this discovery exercise you merely need to familiarize yourself a bit with the structure of Overdrive's Downloadable eAudiobooks site and get an idea of the types of titles you can find there. Take a look around and locate a few titles of interest. That MP3 player is right around the corner and once you have it, you’ll definitely have a reason to try out this popular library service.

Discovery Resources:
  • Overdrive tutorial: Overdrive Quick Start Guide .
  • This tutorial takes a long time to load, so you'll have to have time and patience.
There are "Getting Started..." resources available as soon as you access Overdrive

I intend to check out material that will help me to learn a foreign language, I haven't decided which language I'll choose yet!

I learned some things that I had already heard about but hadn't used yet & learned many new things. Some of the exercises were exciting (Web 2.0 Awards)! Some were quite daunting (somehow I lost the puzzle of my profile that I made from "generator"). I'll use most of the exercises at some point. Also, I didn't realize that I had to keep going back to the 1st page in order to complete all of the exercises, I'll catch up on those in the future as well.

I just read Ed Lein's post about Overdrive so I'm calm. My post about it is the last part of my podcast post in my blog. roddyk.wordpress.com/2008/12/11/podcasts/

Definitely of interest. I will study the details more closely when I get the MP3 player in my grubby little hands!

Although I've had the training, I've not had an MP3 to download these resources. Hint, hint, hint...

Overdrive is cool, but it needs to work in the library and with iPods.

My wife and I are the proud owners of 2 iPods. You can imagine our disappointment when I discovered that we can't use them in Overdrive. Oh, well! Maybe I'll still make the cut for the MP3 player!
